FUTURESOUND COMPETITION 2009
The bands selected to play at this year's competition have now been announced and all the heats are listed below. As ever, we've had an incredible number of excellent applications and it's been hugely difficult to select just thirty acts to play for the six prizes of slots at the Leeds and Reading Festivals.
Indeed, for the second consecutive year the overall winner will play on the Festival Republic Stage at both Leeds and Reading Festivals, which has previously featured performances by Bloc Party & the Arctic Monkeys. The five runners up will also get the opportunity to play at both festivals on the BBC Introducing Stages.

GETTING A GIG AT THE COCKPIT
We book the vast majority of our gigs through recognised agents and deal, on the whole, with signed acts only. Occasionally we have the opportunity to put an unsigned band on the bill with a signed act. If this is the case please note that we will only pick bands from the local area.
If you are in a local / unsigned band you could feature on the bill of one of The Cockpit's unsigned nights. These are predominantly run by Andy, our local and unsigned band promoter, who can be contacted on andy@thecockpit.co.uk.
Please, please do not send unsolicited demos to us. We get loads and they'll probably just end up in the bin.
Your best bet is to send Andy an email with reviews, short biog and MP3 / audio weblinks than hopefully we can organise a date.
